Vietnamese man in court over charges connected to £400k Tyrone cannabis seizure

A Vietnamese man was remanded in custody on Tuesday on charges connected to a £400,000 cannabis seizure in Co Tyrone.

Police found the drugs during searches carried out in the Coalisland area on Monday.

Hung Van Nguyen was brought to Belfast to appear before the city's Magistrates Court due to the availability of an interpreter.

The 41-year-old, of The Mills in Coalisland, faces charges of possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis at his address.

An investigating detective said he could connect him to the alleged offences.

With no application for bail, Nguyen was remanded in custody until next month.

District Judge Fiona Bagnall ordered that his next appearance, by video-link, should be at a court in Dungannon.
