Vile, bigoted behaviour: DUP man condemns homophobic graffiti daubed on door outside Northern Ireland flat

Police said a resident of a block of flats in Bangor was left upset after a "nasty" homophobic message was daubed on a door.

"All queers out" was daubed on the door in the the Rathgill area of the seaside town.

"This is very upsetting and frightening for the resident," said police.

"Police have a zero tolerance attitude to hate crime and hate incidents just like this."

A DUP councillor condemned the incident.

"This is vile, bigoted behaviour," Tom Smith tweeted.

"It is outrageous that one of our citizens should be treated this way. These acts of homophobia and hatred must be condemned by all. We must refuse to tolerate them within our community."

There was revulsion at the incident on the PSNI Bangor Facebook page when the incident was 

"Horrible nasty bullies," was one comment while another took a different view.

"Lol isn't the point that they already are "out"? Maybe he's encouraging folk to embrace themselves in owning their own queerdom?" the man joked.

Police added: "If you know anything about this, or witnessed it, we want to hear from you. Please contact Ards Police on our non-emergency number 101. Serial for this is 996 of 16/12/2018."
