Voice airport views on forum

By Lauren Mulvenny

Local people are being encouraged to make their views on George Best Belfast City Airport heard.

Three places are now available on the airport’s forum, a consultative body established in 1993.

A non decision-making body, the forum comprises of local community groups, public authorities, airport management and airport users.

Encouraging local people to get involved, Alan Crowe, chair of the forum, said: “The city airport is aware of the impact its operations may have within the community and aims to address these issues through the forum.

“It’s very important the views of residents regarding the airport are heard and that information about the airport is fed back to the community.

“This is a valuable opportunity for those who represent their communities to come forward and join the forum.”

To join the forum you must be over 18, have lived in east Belfast for at least 12 months, available to attend at least three evening meetings a year at the airport and serve a five year term.

Only members of organised groups, which have a constitution, elected officer bearers and hold regular meetings including an annual general meeting, are eligible to apply.

The group must have no political bias.

For an application form contact Laura Duggan, forum secretary, at or phone 9093 5097.

Completed applications and additional documents should be returned by email or post to Laura Duggan at George Best Belfast City Airport, Sydenham Bypass, Belfast, BT3 9JH by 5pm on Friday, February 26.
