Walking free, Real IRA boss behind atrocity
Convicted Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt (68) was photographed walking near his comfortable home in the seaside village of Blackrock in Co Louth last week.
Although no one has ever been successfully convicted in a criminal court for the Omagh bombing, McKevitt was one of four men who were found liable in a civil legal action.
The others are Liam Campbell, Colm Murphy and Seamus Daly.
But the Omagh families are still waiting for the £1.6m awarded by the High Court in 2009 from those held liable for the 1998 atrocity.
In 2003 McKevitt was sentenced to 20 years for directing terrorism at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin. he was released in 2016.
