Wanted: memories of bygone days at Ballintoy

The National Trust is staging an evening of stories at one of Northern Ireland's best-known landmarks later today to launch a project to record people’s memories of life in and around Ballintoy and Carrick-a-Rede on the north coast.

A spokeswoman for the National Trust said they were looking for stories from people who have lived and worked around the world-renowned Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge.

“To record a complete picture of the area the National Trust would like to consult the experts — the people who lived and worked here.

“Project workers Noreen and John Hamilton would love to meet up with anyone with connections to Ballintoy to have a chat about the things they remember and stories they were told by previous generations.

“Come along to a relaxed evening at the Carrick-a-Rede Cafe tonight at 7pm to find out about the project and share a few stories.”

If you can’t make it but would like to be involved in the project, you can contact Noreen on 028 7082 2245 or Gerard on 07729 449276.
