Warm weekend forecasts spring on the horizon

By Allan Preston

Spring may not start officially until March 20, but Northern Ireland said goodbye to winter over the weekend with the warmest day of the year so far.

With temperatures on Saturday reaching a relatively balmy 16C at the Giant's Causeway and other visitor hotspots - despite the occasional shower - many took advantage of the mild conditions to enjoy the great outdoors.

The Met Office has predicted a fairly pleasant spell this week for Northern Ireland.

Today is expected to be mainly dry with a maximum temperatures of 14C. The best of the sunshine is expected in the morning and early afternoon.

Towards the evening clouds will thicken and there will be some light rain.

From Tuesday to Thursday conditions are to be changeable and mostly mild, with some light and patchy rain.
