Watch: Inbetweeners star cheers on Derry GAA hero ahead of All Ireland semi

Inbetweeners star James Buckley has wished a Derry GAA hero “the best of luck” in the All Ireland semi-final this weekend.

The actor - best known for playing gobby schoolboy Jay Cartwright – sent the video message to Benny Heron ahead of Saturday’s big game against Galway.

The Oakleaf forward has emerged as a goal scoring machine for his county club.

“Alright Benny – Benny the Goat – Greatest Of All Time,” the actor said.

“Your football friends - ooh football friends - just wanted to wish you the best of luck in your semi-final at the All Ireland against Galway.

“I’m sure you are absolutely going to smash it.

“I tell you what right, I tell you what.

“If you do well, if you pull it out of the bag, I think we all head down to caravan club to celebrate.”

One of TV’s favourite funny men went on to make a promise too rude to print.

“I don’t know how I can possibly motivate you anymore,” he added.

“Benny, get out there and get the job done.”

Heron has become a cult hero among GAA fans.

He has inspired countless memes, banners and posters including a an A2-sized image featuring the Ballinascreen native with a goat.
