Watch: No complaints and no arrests after mass city street fight

Hammer, baseball bat and golf club used in street fighting

Police have confirmed there were no arrests or complaints made after a mass brawl broke out in Belfast city centre.

Shocking footage of a mass street fight breaking out on Sunday afternoon in the Selby Court area of the city emerged on social media.

Mobile phone footage shows dozens of individuals engaging in a vicious scrap with an array of weapons that include a baseball bat, a golf club, an extendable baton, and a hammer.

It is understood the recording was taken in the Grosvenor Road area on Sunday afternoon, and was the result of a dispute between rival factions.

In one incident a man can be seen being hit over the head with a baseball bat resulting in a sickening thud. Up to 35 people were thought to have been involved.

SDLP councillor Tim Atwood said the scenes were sickening and urged anyone with an issue to contact the police.

Police said they were on the scene within minutes of it being reported to them.

"However no complaints were forthcoming and no injuries disclosed," said Chief Inspector Kellie McMillan.

"Police maintained a presence in the area and there were no further reports.

"Anyone who witnessed what happened can contact police on 101 quoting reference 666 07/01/18.”
