Watch: Police storm Newry home as part of search operation

Dramatic footage has emerged of police conducting a search at a premises in Newry earlier this month.

A video released by dissident republican group Saoradh shows heavily armed and protected police emerge from a van before pointing their firearms at the premises and entering.

Police confirmed that they conducted a search at a premises in the Bessbrook area on Saturday, January 5 under Article 52 Firearms NI Order 2004 and Article 10 PACE.

Newry Saoradh representative Stephen Murney described the footage as "shocking" and said that police had claimed they were "searching for firearms".

Mr Murney said that no firearms were found at the property.

"Over a decade ago some deluded former Republicans proclaimed a new beginning and offered their support for these forces," he said.

Mr Murney said that such operations were not "wanted or welcome".

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed that an investigation is ongoing following the search.
