Watch: Street becomes river in heavy Northern Ireland rain

By Jonathan Bell

Small pockets of Northern Ireland were hit with flooding in the heavy rain.

A warning was issued for heavy downpours across Northern Ireland for Wednesday afternoon.

DUP MLA Carla Lockhart said there was two incidents in the Craigavon area. One at Mourne Road in Lurgan and the other on the Kidswell Road just outside Donaghcloney.

"For that one there was just muck on the road and it blocked the drains.

"But for the other there has been a few incidents of flooding of late. So we are looking at getting a long term solution to it.

"But it has all been cleared and it was just minor."

It's not thought any damage has been caused.

Mourne Road resident Maggie Millar said her street turned into a river during the rain.

"It came up and over the path," she told the Belfast Telegraph.

"But the council workers came out and cleared the drains to help get it away - but it was like a river."

The yellow weather warning was in place from midday on Wednesday until 8pm.
