Watch: Woman bumps into wedding singer after 30 years - and he bursts into song in Northern Ireland shop

By Jonathan Bell

It was the talk of one Northern Ireland town, a chance encounter that brought together two people in song, bridging a gap of over 30 years.

But just an "ordinary day" for Alison Dick, owner of Ballyclare's The Secret Place, a Christian book and giftware shop.

On Wednesday morning, two customers came in, one with a friend, the other with her uncle visiting from America. And after a moment the two realised they knew each other.

The man in fact was the singer at the woman's wedding over 30 years ago - and almost as spontaneous as the meeting, he burst into song to serenade her.

"It was quite strange," said Alison, "but he had an awesome voice, an incredible singer.

"I joked with him after if I could book him for another appearance."

The singer performed, in Italian, a classical song about redemption and God's praise. Such was the speed with which he erupted into chorus, Alison asked if he would perform again in order to capture the moment on camera.

Posting on Facebook the video has spread far and wide with thousands watching it. It also been the talk of Ballyclare.

"It was just after he had been for his breakfast in Pots of Coffee and the owner there was joking it must be what was in his apple juice," said Alison who took over and modernised the shop in 2015.

"It was just an ordinary day.

"Things like this happen in the shop, it seems to be the place for it. Anybody is welcome and they can sing if they want.... so long as it's the right song," she joked.

"People call them coincidences but I like to think of them as God-incidences."
