Weather: More sunshine to come for Northern Ireland as rain set to stay away

By Claire Williamson

Forecasters promised a week without rain - and they have been proven right as the good weather is set to continue into the weekend.

The May Bank Holiday triggered the start of the sunshine with people reaching for their sunglasses and shorts as temperatures hit 17 degrees.

And the rays have kept coming all week.

This weekend the Met Office predicts the weather will remain dry and settled with sunny spells.

Friday will feel quite warm with a fresh easterly breeze and a little more cloud creeping in. The temperature is expected to reach 17 degrees.

On Saturday light winds will creep in but it will remain dry with sunny spells.

The best of the sunshine will be at the north coast with the maximum temperature reaching 15 degrees.

From Sunday onwards there is still no mention of rain as the sunshine is set to stay put.

Expect it to feel warm with some light winds.
