Weather: Snow forecast for Northern Ireland

Christmas may be over - but don't put the winter clothes away just yet as Northern Ireland is expected to experience snow this week.

From Monday onwards the Met Office has forecast that temperatures will drop with some wintry showers coming in.

Forecasters said for Monday the rain will clear to bring in blustery showers with occasional bright spellls.

The Met Office said it will feel cold with strong southwest winds and gales around the north coast. The maximum temperature is expected to be 8 °C.

Temperatures will drop by Wednesday and Thursday.

The Met Office said to expect "strong winds with frequent wintry showers, significant snowfall in places and drifting over higher ground".

No weather warnings have been put in place.
