Weather: Yellow warning for strong winds and rain in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland has been issued with a Yellow weather warning for wind and rain for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Areas which will be most affected are counties Antrim, Down and Armagh.

The strongest winds are expected to arrive in the west of the region later on Tuesday evening, moving eastwards overnight.

30 to 40 mm of rain falling within 6 to 9 hours seems likely to lead to flooding of some sections of road and perhaps also properties.

Areas that will be most affected by rain are Fermanagh, Tyrone, Armagh, Antrim, Down & Londonderry valid from Tuesday until Wednesday.

There is some uncertainty in peak wind strengths and how quickly winds will ease on Wednesday morning. Heavy rain will be an additional hazard, especially in the north of the warning area, resulting in especially difficult driving conditions.
