Weir in election posters call

North Down MLA Peter Weir has called on all political parties in the borough to remove election posters “properly”.

Mr Weir made the call after being contacted by a number of residents complaining that posters have been removed but with the cable ties left on lampposts.

“In the aftermath of the parliamentary elections, we are as usual deluged with posters from the various candidates,” Mr Weir said.

“I have been contacted by a number of constituents who are concerned about the way that posters have been taken down.

“In particular, people are annoyed that some posters have been taken down with the cable ties left up. This creates an eyesore with these ties left on lampposts. I urge parties and candidates to take the extra care when removing their posters and leave nothing leftover on polls.”
