West Belfast alert: Ramoan Drive residents return to their homes after 'viable device' found
Residents in Ramoan Drive in west Belfast were evacuated from their homes on Saturday after the discovery of a 'viable device'.
Inspector Mark Cavanagh said: "ATO examined a suspicious object and declared it a viable device. It has been taken away for further examination.
"Evacuated residents have been allowed back into their homes."
There are no further details at this stage.
Police were then called to a second alert in the Glencolin Walk area of west Belfast.
The alerts come after a prison officer narrowly escaped death in a bomb attack on Friday.
The father-of-three (52) suffered leg wounds when the device exploded under a van he was driving.
