West Belfast shop robbed by men with hammer and metal pole

A shop in west Belfast has been robbed by two men armed with a hammer and a metal pole.

The armed robbery happened at a commercial premises in the Durham Street area at around 6.05pm on Thursday.

A female member of staff was threatened before the men fled with cash towards the Divis Bridge area.

"The female member of staff was left badly shaken, but not injured," Detective Sergeant Gardiner said.

"The males are described as being of heavy build and wearing navy hooded tops, with one top having distinctive writing on its left sleeve. Enquiries are continuing.

"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1113 7/2/19."
