Whale's carcass washes up near Ministry of Defence's firing ranges on Lough Foyle

The carcass of a nine-metre minke whale has been found on a beach on Lough Foyle.

The whale was reported at Magilligan Point on Tuesday, close to the Ministry of Defence's firing ranges.

A spokesman for the MoD said it had liaised with HM Coastguard and Limavady Borough Council.

Plans are now under way to dispose of the whale's carcass.
