By Staff Reporter

Arsonists pushed bins up against the wall of a house in Lisburn before setting it alight.

Detectives are investigating the attack at Clontara Park in the early hours of Wednesday.

Fire and Rescue Service personnel attended and extinguished the fire. It was reported to the PSNI at around 1am. There were no reports of any injuries as a result of the fire.

However, damage was caused to the exterior of the property.

Police appealed for anyone who noticed suspicious activity at Clontara Park or who has any information about this incident to contact detectives in Lisburn.

Meanwhile, a community centre in Co Tyrone was heavily damaged in an arson attack.

The Castlebay Community Centre was targeted by arsonists on Wednesday morning.

Damage was caused to a bar in the upstairs area of the centre while the lounge was gutted.

Money and goods were also stolen from the premises.

Local SDLP councillor Malachy Quinn said it was an attack on the entire community.

"Those who attacked it are disgusting and have nothing to offer," he added.
