Victims' campaigner Willie Frazer said last night that a protest planned for Dublin on November 18 has been called off following a meeting with the Garda.
The decision follows what he described as "significant progress" towards providing documents the Kingsmill families believe could aid the inquest into the 1976 atrocity in which 10 Protestant workers were shot dead by the IRA.
Mr Frazer said: "I have always said we would be happy to call the protest off if Irish authorities came forward and produced the historic documentation which we had requested.
"This afternoon I met with senior Garda and was shown documents which are to be provided to the NI Coroner.
"It is my firm belief that significant progress has been made toward providing families and the inquest with what was requested many years ago."
Mr Frazer said he was confident that legislation to be passed in the Dail and commitments by Irish Government departments would see the information passed on.
