Woman (70s) rescued from burning house in Derry

A woman in her 70s has been rescued from a house fire in Londonderry.

The fire broke out shortly before midnight on Monday night in the Iniscarn Court area of the Creggan.

By the time firefighters arrived at the scene the woman had been removed from the property, with the BBC reporting that she was rescued by a man who was passing by.

She was treated at the scene by firefighters and paramedics for smoke inhalation.

In total the fire was attended by three engines, with the accidental blaze breaking out in a bedroom of the semi-detached property.

Firefighters dealt with the incident and left the scene a short time before 1am on Tuesday morning.
