Police in Magherafelt arrested a woman driving a car with no tyres after a tip-off on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old was seen driving the car between Portglenone and Bellaghy on its rims with visible damage.

Police responded after a member of the public contacted them with a description of the driver, the location and the registration number.

Police wrote on the PSNI Magherafelt Facebook page that officers responded immediately.

"The caller provided excellent details of the vehicle including description of driver, accurate location and full reg of the car," they said

"Our local crews backed up by Ballymena crews responded immediately the call was received by us.

"The car was located just as it crashed and we arrested the driver for driving whilst unfit through drink and/or drugs.

"Another potential killer off the roads," the PSNI added on Facebook.

The woman was released on bail pending further enquiries.
