Woman arrested after pedestrian killed in Belfast crash released on bail

A man aged in his 30s has been killed after he was hit by a car in south Belfast on Sunday night.

The incident happened on the Lisburn Road close to its junction with Marlborough Park at about 11.20pm.

The man who was a pedestrian has been named locally as Dermot French.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested a short time later on suspicion of a number of motoring offences.

She was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who was on Lisburn Road last night and who witnessed the collision to contact local police in Lisburn Road Police Station or the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
