Woman attacked in Ravenhill mugging

A woman in her 50s was attacked by a street robber in south-east Belfast on Tuesday night.

The victim was on the Ravenhill Road when the attacker approached her from behind, struck her on the back of the head and knocked her to the ground.

She had her wallet, credit cards and house keys taken.

The mugging happened shortly after 10.20pm.

Inspector John McIntyre said: "As a result of the attack she has been left badly shaken and had to receive hospital treatment minor injuries sustained.

"I appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or was in the area and noticed anything suspicious or has any information to contact police at Strandtown on the non emergency number 101."
