Woman 'badly shaken' after teens hijack her car in north Belfast

A woman has been left 'badly shaken' after two teenagers - one armed with a hammer - hijacked her car in north Belfast.

The woman was making her way back to her car, a black VW Polo,  at around 10.40pm on Monday January 19 on the Antrim Road near the junction of Chichester Road.

Two males, aged around 19 and wearing hoods ran from the direction of Chichester Road and demanded that she hand over the keys to her car.

One of these males was brandishing a hammer.

The woman attempted to run away from them, but they caught her, grabbed her keys and made off in her car.

The woman was not injured, however she was left very badly shaken.

Detective Constable Conor Sweeney said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact Detectives at Tennent Street on the non-emergency number 101.

"Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
