Woman charged after car hijacking in Belfast city centre
A 23-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the hijacking of a car belonging to another woman in Belfast city centre.
The car owner, a woman in her 30s, was not injured but was left badly shaken by the ordeal which involved two men and a woman threatening her with Stanley knives before stealing her Peugeot 208 car from the Talbot Street area.
The theft happened around 4.30pm on Monday and the car was later reported to have been involved in a single vehicle collision on the Drumilly Road between Portadown and Armagh just after 6pm.
A 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested and taken into custody.
The man was later released pending further police enquiries.
The woman was charged with hijacking and aggravated vehicle taking and is due to appear at Laganside Magistrates Court on Tuesday, December 23.
