Woman dies following A2 three vehicle crash
A woman has died and a baby is in a critical condition at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children following a three vehicle crash.
A third person involved in the accident has been taken to the Ulster Hospital and is in a stable condition.
The crash happened on the A2 Bangor to Belfast road.
Rapid Response Paramedics and the Air Ambulance were at the scene.
The A2 remains closed in both directions at Ballyrobert.
North Down MLA Gordon Dunne has expressed his sadness following the severe road accident.
The DUP representative said: "‘I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family who were involved in a critical accident this afternoon on the A2 Dual Carriageway.
"This is a very busy section of road and a sad event like this is a reminder of the dangers on our roads.
"I would also like to pay tribute to the emergency services who attended the scene today including the N Ireland Air Ambulance Service. My thoughts and prayers are with the families at this time.
"I believe more investment is required by the Department of Infrastructure to improve safety on what is a very busy road with up to 45,000 vehicle movements each day," the DUP MLA added.
"The maintenance of the road needs improvement to reduce risk to all users."
