Woman dragged from car by masked gang in raid ordeal

By Claire Williamson

A woman has been dragged from her car by masked men during a robbery in west Belfast.

Shortly before 10.30am yesterday a woman's car was blocked by another vehicle as she was driving along Kennedy Way.

Police said two men wearing balaclavas got out of their car and tried to climb into the woman's vehicle.

When they were unable to get inside, they used a hammer to smash the front passenger window.

They then dragged the woman out of the vehicle and reached inside to steal a sum of cash.

A male passenger was in the front seat at the time.

Detective Constable Ian Austin said: "The woman and male were not injured. However, they were left very badly shaken.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in this area at the time or who has any information to contact detectives at Musgrave Street on the non-emergency number 101.

"Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
