Woman escapes Belfast fire through flat window

A woman managed to escape a fire through the window of her north Belfast flat, it has been reported.

Significant damage was caused to a ground floor flat on Glenbryn Drive after the fire erupted at around 5pm on Friday.

Neighbours told the BBC the woman living in the upstairs flat had to escape through a window.

She was said to have suffered minor injuries.

They also reported seeing four people running away from the flat at the time the fire started.

Separately in an unconnected incident, a 52-year-old man was rescued from a fire at a house on Reid Street off the Cregagh Road in east Belfast.

Both fires are now under control.
