A 23-year-old woman struck by a car in Londonderry has died in hospital.
The woman was critically injured in the accident at the Altnagelvin roundabout of the Glenshane Road on Friday night. She died on Saturday.
Her name has not been released, but it is believed the woman was a member of the Travelling community.
The car involved was a silver Citroen C5 and police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
Ulster Unionist councillor Mary Hamilton offered her condolences to the family, adding: “This was just a young woman, maybe out enjoying her weekend. It’s a terrible thing to happen.”
Sinn Fein councillor Lynn Hamilton said the road could be dangerous for pedestrians.
“It is a busy road there and has just been widened to include another lane,” she said.
“It is a tragedy and my heartfelt condolences go out to her family.”
