A woman was hit repeatedly in the face and left traumatised after she confronted a gang of men who had broken into her home and forced their way into her bedroom.

At around 8.30pm the men broke into the Bleary Road home in Craigavon on Thursday.

On hearing the men the woman locked herself into her bedroom. The gang then broke through the door and on seeing the woman hit her.

As the intruders fled the scene they smashed a number of windows in a car that had arrived at the property.

A phone and a small sum of cash was stolen.

"Police would appeal to anyone who has any information or who may have noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area of the Bleary Road to contact detectives at Lurgan on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1327 21/02/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
