Woman shaken by robbery

Musgrave Street CID are investigating after a man robbed staff at a video store on Ormeau Road at knifepoint on Monday night, November 9.

The man entered the store at approximately 7.25pm and walked around for about five minutes before approaching the counter and producing the knife. He threatened a female member of staff, ordering her to open the till. He removed a sum of cash and ran off in the direction of Sunnyside Street.

He is described as around 20 years old, approximately 5' 4” tall of a medium build with a red face, bluey/green eyes and dirty fair eyebrows. He was wearing a green jacket and a grey woollen hat and had wrapped the knife in a green and red checked tea towel.

The woman was physically uninjured but very shaken by the ordeal.

It's understood four customers were in the store at the time and that another customer left the store following the robbery and prior to the arrival of police.

He is described as in his 40s around 6' tall of a medium build with grey hair. He was wearing a navy fleece and a blue baseball cap. Detectives are keen to hear from this man.
