Woman stabbed during Belfast supermarket car park robbery

Police are appealing for information after a woman was stabbed in the hand as a man stole her handbag.

The robbery took place in the Antrim Road area of Belfast on Tuesday evening.

It was reported that at 5:20 pm a man unsuccessfully tried to steal a handbag from a woman in a supermarket car-park before making off in the direction of the Limestone Road. 

At 8:20 pm another woman was approached in the same car-park by a male armed with a knife. She was stabbed in the hand suffering a small laceration and her handbag was taken before the suspect again made off in the direction of the Limestone Road. 

The suspect is described as 5’6” in height with a slim build and dark jacket. 

Detective Sergeant McPhillips said: "Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference CCS 1339 12/06/18.  Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
