Women held in prostitution probe

Two German women have been arrested following an investigation into controlling prostitution and suspected human trafficking in Belfast.

Police said it followed four searches in the area.

They said the six-week investigation had centred on suspected criminal gangs involved in controlling prostitution across Northern Ireland.

Investigations are ongoing in Northern Ireland and across Europe.

Detective Inspector Dougie Grant said: "The investigation underlines the PSNI's commitment to investigate human exploitation in Northern Ireland."
