World War II bomb found in Co Armagh

An old World War II bomb was found in Co Armagh on Tuesday.

The device was discovered near the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Manor House, Loughgall, and made safe by the Army bomb squad.

Local SDLP Councillor Eamon McNeill said the estate was a military firing range during the war.

"It wasn't a live device but it did contain explosive material," he said.

"The device had been left on a fence which may have been found by someone out with a metal detector. It was discovered there by a member of staff from the Department of Agriculture."

He commended the PSNI and Army for speedily making the device safe.
