X Factor finalist Wagner in rallying call for Shankill Defenders' competition
The Shankill Road Defenders have enlisted an unlikely figure to promote their upcoming melody flute competition - none other than former X Factor favourite Wagner.
The talent show finalist has urged all to Carrickfergus for the event this Saturday.
"Enjoy some of the top band from across northern Ireland and Scotland and an evening of culture," he says in a short Facebook video before rounding off with a verse of the Cliff Richard favourite Congratulations.
Wagner first hit TV screens on back in 2010 for the seventh series of The X-Factor. He was brought back onto the show as a wildcard making it to week eight before falling to the public vote.
The retired PE teacher and karate enthusiast now offers a greeting service recording messages for people on Facebook.
Back in 2015 he had to apologise after singing an infamous IRA chant while performing a cover version of Wolfe Tones song Celtic Symphony saying he wasn't aware of the meaning behind the words.
Everyone come to Carrickfergus to the Shankill Road Defenders melody flute competition on Saturday 14th of October! To promote your event, inbox this page to pre-order your video. Posted by Wagner on Sunday, October 8, 2017
