While the rest of Northern Ireland was tucked up waiting for Santa, a number of families were celebrating arrivals of a different kind.

The first Christmas baby to be born this year was Aislinn White's baby girl who arrived at 0.34am.

Aislinn's new baby was born at the Royal Victoria Hospital and weighed 7lb 7oz.

The Cash family from Dundonald received the greatest gift of all this Christmas as they welcomed their new baby girl into the world.

The baby girl, who is yet to be named, arrived at 1.15am.

Her dad Neil, who is a twin, was also born on Christmas Day - meaning that Christmas will always means a double helping of celebration for the Cash family.

Aine Nesbitt gave birth to a baby boy named Conor at 3.16am, while Jia Ling gave birth to a baby girl, named Chen, at 8.47am, and new mum Lisa Rodgers also welcomed her baby son into the world at the Royal Victoria Hospital yesterday.
