A yellow weather alert is in place for Northern Ireland on Wednesday with heavy and possible thundery showers expected in the afternoon and evening.

It's predicted to cause travel disruption and flooding in places.

The Met Office said lightning strikes are expected to cause damage to buildings.

There's also a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.

People in Northern Ireland are warned to expect short term loss of power and other services.

It comes after the Met Office cancelled a yellow weather alert which was in place for Thursday.

A similar yellow weather alert is also in place for eastern parts of Scotland.
