Youth charged with attempted murder of autistic Lisburn teen Scott Vineer

A youth has been charged with the 2012 attempted murder of autistic Lisburn teenager, Scott Vineer.

He is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court on Monday, June 2.

'Gentle giant' Scott Vineer spent three months in a coma after he was repeatedly kicked in the head by his assailants near the Lagan Towpath.

The 17-year-old was found in the grounds of a disused furniture showroom on September 7, 2012 - 24 hours after leaving South Eastern Regional College, where he was studying.

He had been left for dead in the attack which was described at the time by police as "brutal, savage and senseless".
