Paint attack at Glengormley memorial is condemned

By Nevin Farrell

A Remembrance Day wreath-laying ceremony will go ahead in Glengormley after a paint attack on a war memorial was cleaned up.

The attack has been condemned by Royal British Legion officials and politicians, including North Belfast DUP MP Nigel Dodds.

Billy Snoddy, the Legion's East Antrim district chairman, said: "It is very sad that in this 100th year of commemorations of all those thousands of people from every race and every religion who died in the cause of freedom that we would still have people here that would stoop so low and carry out an attack like this.

"Our ceremony will go ahead as planned involving up to 100 people including church leaders in the area and members of the public."
