Paisley and Adams add punch to Haiti appeal

By David Jebb

The gloves are off as DUP stalwart Ian Paisley and Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams prepare to come to blows — but for once it’s not a political knockout.

Instead the veteran politicians are the subject of a painting entitled Rock’em Shock’em, which is being auctioned at a fundraising event for quake-ravaged Haiti.

The striking political image, the creation of Belfast-based artist Andy Brown, depicts the duo deep in concentration as they square up to each other in a game of table top boxing. His work is just one piece of original work by artists from all over Northern Ireland to be featured at a special Valentine’s Day exhibition.

The event, which is called HeARTS4Haiti, kicks off at 6pm on Sunday at Belfast’s Black Box.
