Pervert who 'flashed' at kids caged

By Ashleigh Wallace

A Belfast man who exposed himself to schoolgirls as young as six has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Appearing in the dock of Belfast Crown Court yesterday Scott Greer (20) from Clifton Park Avenue was ordered to serve two years and nine months for a litany of charges committed over two years. He also agreed to spend a further three years on probation on his release.

Speaking after sentence was passed, the mother of one of Greer's young victims, who he lured to an alleyway when she was just seven, said her daughter has been left emotionally scarred by Greer's actions.

The north Belfast woman (36) said: "I thought he would have walked today and while the sentence he got is more than I hoped for, it's still a disgrace.

" He lured my daughter from where she was playing with her friends to an alleyway, with the promise of giving her stickers."

The mother said that when her girl turned round the man exposed himself. She added her daughter saw him flashing from his window 18 months later, and said that when paedophiles are on the news my daughter says to me: 'Is that like that man that got me, mummy?'"

At a previous court hearing, Greer pleaded guilty to 16 charges relating to inciting or attempting to incite gross indecency with a child as well as three counts of making indecent pictures. The court heard the images were downloaded video clips of children being forced into sexual activity with adults.

When Greer was arrested, he confessed to what he had done and admitted to further offences. All the offences were committed from November 2004 to September 2006 and included urging young girls to get into his car.

Regarding the images, Judge Kennedy said: "It is hard to image the humiliation and suffering caused to these children."

Regarding Greer's offences against young girls in his area, she said he had not "given a satisfactory explanation" for his behaviour.
