DUP man compares Lib Dems to Fifa
The DUP’s Nigel Dodds has compared the Liberal Democrats with Fifa — as an organisation that “says one thing and then votes exactly the opposite way”.
There was uproar in the Commons as the North Belfast MP made his comparison following England's failed campaign to host the 2018 World Cup and as ministers faced a revolt over |tuition fee rises.
At Commons question time he asked the Prime Minister: “In light of your experience at the World Cup bid in Zurich last week, can you tell us what your view now is on an organisation that engages in the most convoluted and bizarre voting arrangements, which says one thing and then votes exactly the opposite way, and which has a leader who seems more interested in power and prestige than accountability?
“And after you've finished with the Lib Dems, can you tell us what you think of Fifa?”
David Cameron replied: “I certainly learned one thing which is, when it comes to breaking promises, politicians have got nothing on football management, there's no doubt about that.”
