Laws protect gay people: David Cameron

No new legislation is needed to protect gay people, David Cameron has insisted, in an interview discussing his voting record on gay rights.

He apologised for his party's history of spearheading anti-gay legislation and laid out his belief in equal rights for all regardless of sexual preference.

But he refused to describe statements by some of the Tories' virulently anti-gay allies in Europe as “homophobic” and said that instead of new laws there needed simply to be a “changing culture”.
