Martin McGuinness and Gregory Campbell clash

Martin McGuinness and the DUP’s Gregory Campbell have sharply clashed in the Assembly over the issue of dealing with the past.

The Deputy First Minister hit out after the East Londonderry MP urged him to set out clearly the details of his own past.

Mr Campbell said: “In trying to progress the issue of innocent victims and dealing with the past, does the Deputy First Minister not think that the long, slow process of building his credibility in that regard would be enhanced by an unambiguous statement of his involvement?”

Mr McGuinness replied: “The Member is, probably, the person in the House who is most embedded in the past.”
