Wales manager Chris Coleman nets OBE

By Catherine Wylie

Wales manager Chris Coleman has collected his OBE at Buckingham Palace.

Coleman (46) received the honour from the Prince of Wales for services to football, and admitted he "didn't have the courage" to ask Charles if his allegiances lay with England or Wales, despite often pondering it.

The Dragons boss returned from France a hero last summer after Wales reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016, losing out to eventual winners Portugal.

Coleman, who became manager after the tragic death of Gary Speed in 2011, said it was terrifying collecting his award from Charles.

He added: "It reminded me of... like if I was a young boy going to see my headmaster again, if I'm honest."
