PSNI appeal over arson attack spate in Belfast's Botanic area

Police are appealing for information about three arson incidents that occurred in the early hours of Monday in the Botanic area of Belfast.

Chief Inspector Robert Murdie said: "At around 5.15am on Monday, December 29, the PSNI received a report that an empty building in the Botanic Avenue area had been set alight. Shortly after 7am we received a report about a fire in a property in Palestine Street.

"A fire had been started deliberately in a first floor bedroom. Shortly after 7.20am there was a further report of arson at another Palestine Street property.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have information relating to these incidents to contact detectives at Musgrave Station on 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
