PSNI officer in court

A PSNI officer has appeared in court accused of falsifying a witness statement.

Police officer Kelly Anne Greig pleaded not guilty at Downpatrick Crown Court yesterday to a charge of misconduct in public office.

It is alleged that Greig “without reasonable excuse or justification, made a witness statement dated July 17, 2007, which (she) knew contained false information, or was reckless as to whether it contained false information”.

Greig, whose address was given as Castlereagh PSNI station, spoke only to deny the charge against her. It is understood that she has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the case.

The case has been adjourned until April.
