11 held in probe into sexual exploitation of children

Six women and five men are being held in Garda stations in Limerick, Cork and Clare.

Eleven people have been arrested in an investigation into alleged sexual exploitation of children.

Six women and five men were detained in Limerick, Tipperary and Kerry.

The suspects are aged from their 20s to 70s.

They are being questioned about alleged exploitation of children in the Newcastle West area of Co Limerick.

They are being held in Garda stations in Limerick, Cork and Clare under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardai from Newcastle West, Bruff, Henry Street, Mayorstone Park and Roxboro Road were involved in Monday’s operation, as was the Limerick Divisional Protective Services Unit.
