18 arrested over criminality in Drogheda

Eighteen people have been arrested by gardai in Drogheda.

They carried out 34 searches as part of a “day of action” under Operation Stratus, which targets criminality within the district.

Thirty searches were conducted at houses in the district and four separate hunts carried out under drugs-related warrants.

Sixteen people were arrested over outstanding warrants and two on suspicion of the commission of criminal acts within the district in recent weeks. 

A 23-year-old man has since been charged and released on bail.

As part of the same day of action, the Road Policing Unit seized a total of seven vehicles and issued 38 on-the-spot penalty notices for various road traffic offences.

One woman was arrested under the Public Order Act.
